mis-understanding during the period they're working together.

A formal written document containing specific and precise details about the goals that needs to be achieved. The brief gets straight to the point and doesn't contain any unnecessary detail or information. This type of brief is mainly aimed at a group of people or a business company rather than individuals. My understanding of a formal brief is a very precise brief outlining the goals that need to be achiveved. This brief doesn't contain any un-needed detail or infomation. This doesn't have to be a legal document.
Informal
My understanding of a informal brief is done through face to face meetings that all aspects of the brief must be agreed by all members of the client list. This is done through a relaxed enviroment and their a lot quicker. This brief can be seen as unprofessional and often unclear so it's not used to much.
Tender
My understanding of this brief is that its a brief you may get if you were recently employed to a company. You would develop your ideas with the others from the company and they would choose if to keep you on or not. This brief is very relaxed but you may not be the final client therefore may confuse you a bit.
